This family-friendly event will offer a smorgasbord of activity for people of all ages! History will mix with modern times at the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site where guests can enjoy:

  • beverage tastings from 30 local breweries & distilleries
  • live music from a variety of local bands
  • games popular in the late 1800s
  • living history with actors playing historic roles
  • learn about and celebrate the history of Colorado Springs
  • compete for the title of Best Beard or Best Bonnet (or both!)
  • and so much more!

Covid Protocol for the Beards, Bonnets & Brews+ Festival will follow ALL state guidelines.

Getting Here

Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is located off Gateway Road the entrance to Garden of the Gods off 30th Street.

Whoa partner! Pack your patience

Road construction may be taking place at 30th and Fontanero Street on June 12. Check back here closer to the event for traffic advisories and the best route to get to Rock Ledge Ranch.

Ride your bike, or take a Pike Ride

There is plenty of bike parking at the event and Pike Ride has extended their geofence so you can ride to the event!

Beards & Bonnets

As was done during Colorado Springs’ Centennial celebration, Mayor Suthers challenges all men of hair-growing age to grow facial hair for the Sesquicentennial Event.

As not to leave out the other half of our population, the mayor invites all the women in our fair city, to begin work on their Sesquicentennial Bonnets in advance of the celebration.

Awards will be given in several categories.  There will also be a prize to the crowd favorite in each contest.

Celebrity judges including Mayor John Suthers, Janet Suthers and others!

Beard Contest

3 p.m. - Prizes will be given for:

  • Best fake beard 
  • Best real beard  
  • Longest beard
  • Crowd favorite
  • Bushiest
  • Best ‘Scaped

Bonnet Contest

4:15 p.m. - Prizes will be given for:

  • Best bonnet, large
  • Best bonnet, small
  • Most colorful
  • Most historic
  • Best “Kentucky Derby”
  • Crowd Favorite

Volunteers Needed

We're looking for volunteers to help make this event a success!  Volunteers are needed for three different shifts:

  • 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • 12 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • 4:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Your hard work won't go unrewarded! In appreciate of your time and efforts, volunteers may choose from:

  • $10 Food Truck Voucher (Available to All Shifts)
  • Brews Tasting Punch Card - 21+ ONLY (100% ID Check, Available following 1st & 2nd Shift Only)
