This family-friendly event will offer a smorgasbord of activity for people of all ages! History will mix with modern times at the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site where guests can enjoy:
- beverage tastings from 30 local breweries & distilleries
- live music from a variety of local bands
- games popular in the late 1800s
- living history with actors playing historic roles
- learn about and celebrate the history of Colorado Springs
- compete for the title of Best Beard or Best Bonnet (or both!)

Covid Protocol for the Beards, Bonnets & Brews+ Festival will follow ALL state guidelines.

Getting Here
Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is located off Gateway Road the entrance to Garden of the Gods off 30th Street.
Whoa partner! Pack your patience!
Use the Waze app for the best route to the event at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site (1805 N 30th Street).
When the parking lot is full, shuttle parking will be available at Coronado High School (1590 W Fillmore Street).
Ride your bike, or take a PikeRide
- Ride PikeRide to the event for free!
- You may also park a vehicle at the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort and ride your bike to the event from there.
- There will be plenty of bicylce valet parking available!
Beards & Bonnets
As was done during Colorado Springs’ Centennial celebration, Mayor Suthers challenges all men of hair-growing age to grow facial hair for the Sesquicentennial Event.
As not to leave out the other half of our population, the mayor invites all the women in our fair city, to begin work on their Sesquicentennial Bonnets in advance of the celebration.
Awards will be given in several categories. There will also be a prize to the crowd favorite in each contest.
Celebrity judges including Mayor John Suthers, Janet Suthers and others!
Beard Contest
3 p.m. - Prizes will be given for:
- Best fake beard
- Best real beard
- Longest beard
- Crowd favorite
- Bushiest
- Best ‘Scaped
Bonnet Contest
4:15 p.m. - Prizes will be given for:
- Best bonnet, large
- Best bonnet, small
- Most colorful

- Best “Kentucky Derby”

We're looking for volunteers to help make this event a success! Volunteers are needed for three different shifts:
- 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - FULL
- 12 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.- FULL
- 4:00 - 8:30 p.m.
