Colorado Springs residents are encouraged to provide input on a plan to “right size” Research Parkway to enhance safety for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists alike. The proposal includes the repurposing of the outside travel lane to install buffered bike lanes between Voyager Parkway and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

The open house will include displays and exhibits showing the proposed concepts and constraints, allowing citizens to talk directly to City engineers and planners who will be on-hand to answer questions and gather public input.

Thursday, May 19, 6-8 p.m.

Academy International Elementary School

8550 Charity Drive

Colorado Springs 80920

The average traffic volume on Research Parkway is much lower than it was designed for and installing a buffered bicycle lane would align the roadway to better match traffic volume while providing additional bicycle facilities to create an east/west corridor in northern Colorado Springs and connect to six different bike facilities (lanes) in the Briargate neighborhood.

The meeting location is wheelchair accessible. In accordance with the ADA, this meeting will be held in an accessible location, anyone requiring an auxiliary aid to participate in this meeting should make the request as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event. Auxiliary aids could include, but are not limited to a sign language interpreter, CART Services or a loop system. Please notify Tim Roberts at troberts@springsgov.com 719-385-5481.
