City Nature Challenge 2018: Which City Can Find the Most Nature?

Get to know your wild neighbors by being a part of the 2019 City Nature Challenge in Colorado Springs! From April 26 to 29, we invite you to explore our community’s biodiversity by identifying as many species of wildlife, birds, plants and bugs as possible within the city limits – that includes regional parks, open spaces, city parks and even your own backyard!

How to get started?

It’s easy and FREE. Download the iNaturalist app to your mobile device. Find nature in all its forms, use the app to take a picture and upload your photos to iNaturalist. Members of the iNaturalist community will help with identification. It’s as simple as that!

Who else is participating?

More than 100 cities on six continents will be taking part in the Challenge in 2019. While this is a friendly nature “competition” between cities to see who can log the most observations and have the greatest participation, everyone is a winner in the end as we all learn more about the nature around us.

Join the 2019 City Nature Challenge and be part of a global effort to increase scientific knowledge while putting Colorado Springs on the map with the most field observations, greatest number of different species and highest number of participants!
