Proposed Action Plan Notice

NOTICE OF PROPOSED ACTION TO BE TAKEN BY THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION OF THE CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS ON THE 2018 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division (CDD) will conduct a public hearing on January 22, 2017 at 5:30 PM in Room 102 at the City Administration Building, 30 S. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903 on proposed actions regarding the 2018 Action Plan for the use of federal block grant received annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

CDD will be discussing the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Invest Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) proposed projects for the 2018 program year.

The proposed 2018 Action Plan will be available for public review from January 1, 2018 to January 31, 2018 at the following locations Monday through Friday during normal business hours: Community Development Division Office (Suite 604) and Office of the City Clerk (Suite 101), 30 S. Nevada Ave.; City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Ave.; Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade; 21st Century Library, 1175 Chapel Hills Dr.; Hillside Community Center, 925 S. Institute St.; Westside Community Center, 1628 W. Bijou St.; and Meadows Park Community Center, 1943 S. El Paso Ave. The draft documents can also be viewed online any time between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31 at https://coloradosprings.gov/communitydevelopment.

Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the 2018 Annual Action Plan to the City of Colorado Springs, Community Development Division, or contacting Catherine Duarte, (719) 385-6876 or cduarte@springsgov.com. Comments should specify which notice they are addressing. All comments received on or before January 31, 2018 will be considered by the City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division.

Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)

Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to assist individuals and families to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to improve local communities by providing decent housing, improved infrastructure, public facilities and services, and improved economic opportunities. Federal law requires that these housing and community development grant funds primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons; funds may also be used for activities that help prevent or eliminate slums or blight or for projects that meet urgent community needs.
