Colorado Springs, CO – On November 22, 2018, at approximately 4:55 a.m., the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 2822 Airport Rd, Timbers Apartments. En route, the closest company, Engine 8, noted smoke “blowing across Airport Road” and initiated the working structure fire protocol. Engine 8 had water on the fire at 5:06 a.m. and fire under control by 5:12 a.m.
Fire companies arrived at a two-story wood-framed multi-family (8-plex) apartment building with smoke and fire showing on the first and second floors. Primary search via grade and ground ladder was completed which confirmed all victims out of the structure in conjunction with a fire under control within minutes of the arrival of the first due engine company.
There were no civilian injuries or firefighter injuries reported during this event while three people were displaced from two units at the property and assisted by CSFD After the Fire Program and the American Red Cross making the necessary contacts for the displaced residents. Fire Investigators were summoned to the scene, and after a thorough investigation, the fire has been ruled undetermined.
