Invasive Elm Removal Project - Stump Grinding Beginning Monday in Red Rock Canyon

Colorado Springs, Colo – City Forestry has hired Seedmaster’s Inc., their crews will be working in Red Rock Canyon to begin an invasive species removal project targeting Siberian elm sucker sprouts originating from old stumps. This is a continuation from a project that was started with the Mile High Youth Corp., fall of 2018. Crews will begin at Sand Creek, then move towards Highway 24, north of the main parking lot.

Park visitors can expect to see and hear machinery such as grinders, chain saws and a track chipper between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. from Jan. 14 – 23 weather dependent.
