COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) is installing solar lighting at bus stops that need a little extra light when it’s dark outside. The LED solar lights have been installed at 43 stops so far with more on the way. The lights come on automatically as it gets dark and become brighter when a motion sensor detects someone near the bus stop. MMT collected recommendations from bus drivers and passengers about which stops need more light. Adding additional lighting at bus stops enhances safety and security and helps drivers see waiting passengers in low light conditions. If you would like to request solar lighting at a bus stop, please contact Mountain Metro via email at email@example.com or by phone at 385-RIDE.
Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and Metro Mobility ADA paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool, and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-bus program.
