The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) concluded 2023 enplaning a total of 106,474 passengers in December and reaching a year-end total of 1,179,108 enplanements. This reflects a ten percent increase compared to the previous year and stands as the highest number of enplanements at COS since the year 1999, or in 24 years.

"It's no secret the airport had a strong year last year, surpassing the highest level of enplanements we've seen in over two decades. It's a great way to end the year, and we're forecasting 2024 to be no different when it comes to the airport's success,” said Greg Phillips, the Director of Aviation.

The holiday season brought an influx of travelers, with December witnessing a total of 212,199 passengers, marking a 32.2 percent increase from December 2022. The annual total passengers for COS reached 2,347,008, representing a ten percent year-over-year increase.

December also saw a 25.4 percent rise in seats compared to the previous year with 1,452,583 seats in 2023, showcasing a 6.9 percent increase from 2022. These seats were consistently filled throughout the year, with the airport maintaining an average 81.2 percent load factor – 2.3 percent higher than 2022.

Adding to its list of accomplishments in 2023, COS began the concourse modernization project, ElevateCOS, and successfully completed the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) queuing area expansion. Both initiatives are designed to enhance the passenger experience and accommodate the growing levels of traffic.
