Web Accessibility

  • Administrative Regulation 2020-02 signed by Mayor Suthers
    • Requires conformance to WCAG 2.0 or maximum extent feasible by June 30, 2022
    • Establishes Accessibility Prioritization Committee to oversee the City’s transition to accessible online technology
    • Will result in approximately 4.5 million dollars in cost avoidance and improve access for citizens
  •  Assessments and Progress
    • Assessment of City technology and digital content
    • Remediation of in over 2,000 documents to date resulting in a cost avoidance of approximately $520,000 so far
    • Accessibility remediation tickets submitted for the City’s external web applications
    • Procurement code in revision for accessibility
    • Developer and Design Guide adopted by IT
    • Content Author Guide adopted by PIO
    • Accessible Word Documents Training released for all employees
    • Accessible PDF’s and PDF Remediation Training to be released by fall
    • Processes and Workflows established City-wide
    • Office of Accessibility consulted on digital technology projects and serves as a QA for accessible technology
