City Hosts Winter Weather Workshop Oct. 20 for City Staff, Partner Agencies

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In recognition of Winter Weather Awareness Week, Oct. 15-21, the City of Colorado Springs has launched a campaign to help provide residents with tools and information to prepare their homes, families and vehicles for winter weather conditions.

This is an excellent time for all individuals, families, businesses, schools and media organizations to review their winter weather preparedness plans. It is especially important for all new arrivals to the Colorado Springs to become familiar with the National Weather Service watch and warning definitions as well as winter safety procedures

Personal preparedness: The City’s Winter Weather Hub helps residents prepare to weather the winter storms at: This webpage provides information about preparing the home/vehicle for winter, snow plow routes and maps, and what to do before, during and after a winter storm.

Winter weather response workshop:

The Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management will host a workshop Oct. 20 for City staff and its partner agencies to discuss this season’s weather outlook and response procedures for snow control, downed trees, stranded vehicles/motorists, road closures and more. Media are invited to attend a portion of the workshop and interview opportunities are available. More information will be released next week.
