Several organizations will host booths and displays to provide information on a variety of topics related to emergency preparedness and natural hazards.
“In recent years Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region have experienced both wildfire and flash flooding that have devastated parts of our community, and should keep us all mindful that we continue to live with the threat of wildfire and the aftermath of flash flooding,” said Kevin Madsen, Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management deputy director. “With continued dry conditions anticipated through the summer, this meeting serves to inform residents of the risk for these local hazards and provide information and resources to prepare their family and property in the event they may need to leave their homes due to an emergency.”
In addition to attending the community meeting, residents are encouraged to download the City’s Emergency Preparedness and Safety Guide for information on how to prepare for wildfire, flash flooding and all types of emergencies. Residents may also visit the Wildfire Mitigation page for more information about reducing wildfire risk or learn more about flash flooding by clicking this link.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act this meeting will be held in a wheelchair accessible location. Anyone requiring an auxiliary aid to participate in this meeting should make the request as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
