First Day Hikes at Red Rock Canyon Open Space

What better way to kick off a New Year than by burning those holiday calories in the great outdoors? Park guides will be at the Mesa Trailhead from 10 am to 1:30 pm to answer questions, lead hikes, and distribute Red Rock Canyon trail maps.

Guided Hikes:

CANYON STROLL: 10–11 am; 1.5 mile, easy

This gentle, 1.5 mile loop will be a pleasant stroll through the canyon’s
historic quarry site. This trek is perfect for families with small children,
those new to hiking, and anyone looking for enjoyable walk.

SCENIC VIEWS HIKE: 11:30 am-1 pm; 2.5 miles, easy

A 2.5 mile loop features historic sites and impressive views from through
and above the canyon.

RED ROCK IMMERSION HIKE: 1:30-3:30 pm; 3 miles, easy

This 3 mile loop showcases several geologic and historic points of interest.
This hike is ideal for those looking for a longer trail experience.
Recommended for families with children ages 12+.

REMEMBER: Dress for winter weather and be prepared for icy, muddy, and snowy trail conditions.
No pets, please on guided hikes.


Guided hikes are FREE; however, participants MUST register.
