Work to expand and improve the Ridgeway trail head and parking lot starts Monday. The trail head is a popular access point to Stratton Open Space on the city's west side.

The trial head will still be open during construction, but there will be a short trail detour to access the open space.

The project includes

  • addition of 17 parking spaces
  • improved pedestrian access into the open space
  • ADA improvements
  • new signage
  • drainage improvements
  • new concrete sidewalk connecting the open space to Cheyenne Blvd.

The project was a recommendation of the North Cheyenne Cañon Master and Management Plan that was approved and adopted in 2018. The project is expected to take about four weeks to complete, weather dependent. It will cost approximately $140,000 and is funded by the TOPS program.
