The new Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center is on track to open in early summer 2021 following three full years of construction at 14,115 feet. The visitor center, operated by Pikes Peak – American’s Mountain, an enterprise of the City of Colorado Springs, is one component of the new 38,000 square-foot Pikes Peak Summit Complex, which also houses the Maher Memorial High Altitude Research Laboratory, operated by the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, and the Pikes Peak Multi-User Communication Facility, operated by Colorado Springs Utilities.

The new building will be the most sustainable high-altitude structure in the country, if not the world. In addition to the breathtaking views – made even more dramatic by a new elevated pathway and overlook designed to help protect the summit’s fragile tundra – guests will be able to enjoy fresh menu options and digitally interactive displays that bring the history, significance, and geology of the mountain to life.
