Arrest of Attempted Murder Suspect Randy Bishop

On Sunday, January 26, 2020, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received information concerning the whereabouts of wanted suspect Randy Bishop. When officers arrived on scene, they located Bishop driving a blue Mercedes in the 900 block of Tammany Drive. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, Bishop fled, leading the officers to utilize their vehicle in order to disable the Mercedes in the 800 block of Tammany Drive. Bishop was then taken into custody without incident. Neither the suspect nor any of the involved officers were injured. Due to the extreme danger Bishop posed to the public, there was a large police presence in the area during this incident.

Randy Bishop was booked into El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, for the following charges stemming from several different incidents and ongoing investigations from both the CSPD and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office:

  • 18-18-405 Unlawful Distribution, Manufacture, dispensing or Sale of a Controlled Substance
  • 18-4-301 Robbery
  • 18-3-203 Second Degree Assault
  • 18-3-203 Second Degree Kidnapping
  • 18-3-203 Second Degree Assault
  • 18-3-206 Felony Menacing
  • 18-6-401 Child Abuse
  • 18-3-102 Attempted First Degree Murder of a Peace Officer
  • 18-3-202 First Degree Assault
  • 18-8-208 Escape
  • 18-4-409 First Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft
  • 18-8-116 Disarming a Peace Officer
  • 18-4-301 Robbery
  • 18-3-102 Attempted First Degree Murder of a Peace Officer
  • 18-3-202 First Degree Assault on a Peace Officer
  • 18-3-102 Attempt to Commit Murder in the First Degree
