In 2019, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado – Pikes Peak’s (BBBSC) “Bigs with Badges” program. “Bigs with Badges” pairs children facing adversity throughout the Pikes Peak Region with police officers, firefighters, and other first responders in a sports-based setting. The goal is to build lasting connections between kids and first responders. CSPD is proud to support this program, for which our officers volunteer on their off-duty time.

“Bigs with Badges” is currently enrolling children throughout our region from low income, single parent, or military families, to join the program in 2020. Children who participate in the program (“Littles”) can look forward to participating in, and watching, sporting events with their officer, deputy, or firefighter (“Bigs”) throughout the year. If you know a child who could benefit from this program, or if you would like to obtain more information on the program, please call or e-mail Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado – Pikes Peak at #719-633-2443 or KristianD@BigLittleColorado.org.

If you would like to learn more, a “Bigs with Badges” sled hockey event will take place at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs on Saturday, January 11, 2020, from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. BBBSC staff will be on-site to answer questions about the program. A CSPD “Big” and her “Little” will participate in the hockey game, and the officer will be available for media interviews following the event. A CSPD staff officer will also be present to answer any media questions.
