On December 12, 2018, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to a sexual assault call for service in the 900 block of East Fountain Boulevard and initiated a preliminary investigation.
Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit were briefed and assumed responsibility for this ongoing investigation. Allegations were made that a male, who was later identified as Joseph Davis, a 67 year old resident of Colorado Springs, initiated sexual contact with a juvenile victim. Probable cause was established for the arrest of Davis on December 18, 2018, for sexual assault on a child. Davis is in custody at the time of this release.
During the course of the investigation detectives discovered evidence that indicated ongoing sexual abuse of other children and the production of child pornography stretching back at least 35 years.
Davis lived near a local school, a local community center, and a park which is frequented by juveniles of a variety of ages. To date, detectives have contacted and interviewed a number of witnesses and potential victims. Detectives are still interested in speaking with others who may have had contact with Davis at or near his residence. A photograph of Davis can be found on Twitter.
