On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at approximately 12:01 A.M., officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were dispatched to an apartment in the 1300 block of Wood Avenue in reference to a disturbance and a request for medical attention.
Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel located an adult male not breathing. Medical personnel provided aid, however the adult male died on scene.
Detectives from CSPD’s Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for this investigation.
Initial information indicates that during a party in the apartment, the deceased had been involved in a physical altercation with another adult male. Other individuals at the party separated the combatants and the deceased male appeared to have medical difficulties and then became non responsive.
While the El Paso County Coroner conducts an examination to make the final determination of the cause and manner of death, this incident is being investigated as a suspicious death. It is believed that all involved parties have been identified and contacted. No arrests have been made and there is no threat to the public.
