Death investigation 3300 Block of Knoll Lane

On July 11, 2019, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy for the victim involved in the shooting that took place in the 3300 block of Knoll Lane earlier that day. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Alex Franklin of Colorado Springs. Mr. Franklin’s death is the 13th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2019.  At this time last year, the city had 15 homicides

On July 11, 2019, at approximately 6:05am, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a call of a shooting in the 3300 block of Knoll Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local medical facility where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. 

While the El Paso County Coroner will conduct an examination to make the final determination of the cause and manner of death, this case is being actively investigated as a homicide.
