On July 4, 2019, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy for the victim involved in the shooting that took place in the 3400 block of Springnite Drive on July 3, 2019. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Paul Miller of Colorado Springs. Mr. Miller’s death is the 12th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2019. At this time last year, the city had 15 homicides.
On July 3, 2019, at approximately 6:58 pm, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a residence in the 3400 block of Springnite Drive for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 35 year old male inside the residence who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers located an adult male suspect in the home and placed him in custody. The Colorado Springs Violent Crimes Section responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for this investigation.
The suspect in this incident has been identified as 56 year old Michael A. Mills, a resident of Colorado Springs. Mills was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
