On Thursday, May 9, 2019, at approximately 3:41 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a traffic crash involving a SUV in the 6400 block of Barnes Road. Upon arrival at the crash scene, responding officers found the driver of the SUV, who had sustained serious injuries and a deceased male passenger. The SUV driver was transported to the hospital for treatment. The Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for this investigation.
The investigation revealed that the SUV, a white GMC Envoy, was traveling westbound on Barnes Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the curb and rolled before coming to rest on its wheels. Both the passenger and driver were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger, 20 year old Jose Alonso Robles Pulido from Colorado Springs, died on scene of the crash.
This is the 15th traffic fatality of 2019 in Colorado Springs. At this time last year, there were 16 traffic fatalities in the city.
