In a joint investigation between the local FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Colorado State Patrol, and the Colorado Springs Police Department, information was developed regarding an individual suspected of Identity Theft.
Initial investigation revealed in the early 1990s, the suspect, 67 year old Deborah Lester, assumed the name of a deceased child in Texas. The child died in a tragic accident in the 1960s. Lester obtained fraudulent identity documents of the deceased child; and for the past 28 years, used them to obtain identity documents in at least two states under the assumed identity of this person.
Lester has had at least two marriages, possibly more, across multiple states under different names. On October 31, 2018, Lester was taken into custody without incident and charged with Identity Theft.
