On February 28, 2020, around 12:19 A.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received reports of an injury traffic crash in the 3700 Block of South Academy Boulevard. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a single-vehicle crash with one deceased person. Detectives with the CSPD’s Major Crash Team responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The initial investigation revealed that the vehicle, a black Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling southbound on South Academy Boulevard when it lost control, causing the vehicle to roll several times before coming to a stop. The lone female occupant was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to her injuries on the scene.
The investigation is in the preliminary stages and still ongoing. It is unknown at this time if speed or impairment were factors in this crash.
South Academy Boulevard was closed in both directions between Drennan Road and Bradley Road for several hours, to fully investigate the crash.
