The motorcycle driver involved in the traffic crash that occurred at Rangewood Drive on Friday, July 12, 2019 has been identified as 31-year-old Jajuan Richardson of Fountain, Colorado.
On Friday, July 12, 2019 at approximately 9:12 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a single vehicle crash on Rangewood Drive, north of Briargate Boulevard. Officers responded to the area and located the driver of the vehicle deceased on scene. The Major Crash Team responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a large group of motorcycles were travelling southbound on Rangewood Drive approaching Briargate Boulevard, when one of the motorcycles failed to negotiate the curve in the road, striking the right hand curb and ejecting the adult male driver from his motorcycle. The driver, who was wearing a helmet, died on scene.
There is no indication at this time that speed or a speed contest were factors in this crash. This is the 23rd traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2019, the 5th involving a motorcycle; there were 25 traffic fatalities this time last year.
