On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, a community member called the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Communications Center and provided information on the wanted Silver Audi’s possible location.
Based off of the tip, detectives from the CSPD’s Major Crash Team responded to the 1300 block of East Las Animas Street and located the vehicle. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives confirmed it was the correct vehicle involved in the July 20th automobile-pedestrian traffic fatality at the intersection of N. Circle Drive and Galley Rd.
We do want to sincerely thank everyone who helped aid in this search. We have received multiple tips over the last few days, and those contributions helped assist in the quick recovery of the vehicle. Everyone who called in a tip or helped spread the word that we were looking for this vehicle, had a direct role in finding answers for Ms. Clark’s family.
This investigation is still on-going. When an arrest is made and more details become available, we will provide updates to our community and media partners.
On Monday, July 20, 2020, at approximately 10:32 P.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a crash involving an automobile and a pedestrian near the intersection of N. Circle Drive and Galley Rd. Due to the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The investigation revealed that 20-year-old Olivia Clark of Colorado Springs was attempting to cross N. Circle Drive at Galley Road heading westbound, when she was struck by a southbound vehicle. The investigation also revealed that Ms. Clark was not in a crosswalk when she was crossing N. Circle Dr. and that the vehicle that struck Ms. Clark fled the scene.
On Thursday, July 23, 2020, Ms. Clark passed away due to the injuries she suffered in this crash.
The Major Crash Team has determined the vehicle which fled the scene after the crash is described as an early 2000’s model, silver colored, Audi All-Road station wagon with moderate front end damage. CSPD is asking for help from members of the community in identifying and locating this vehicle.
Attached to this press release is a photograph of Ms. Olivia Clark who was killed in the crash. Also attached is a picture of a vehicle similar to, but not the actual vehicle, that fled the scene of the crash.
