On September 8, 2018, at approximately 8:56 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a single vehicle traffic crash near the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and Constitution Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the driver of the vehicle was deceased and his passenger was injured. The passenger was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation into this crash.
The investigation revealed that a silver Subaru sedan was traveling northbound on North Academy Boulevard at an extreme speed when the driver, 33 year old Roger Snyder of Colorado Springs, lost control and drove off the right side of the road. The vehicle rolled numerous times and struck a marquee sign pole and came to an immediate stop. Although he was wearing a seatbelt, Mr. Snyder was ejected from the vehicle. The front seat passenger, however, was not ejected.
Mr. Snyder is the 36th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 27 traffic fatalities.
