Update: Death Investigation 4290 Deerfield Hills Road

Update

On January 13, 2020, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased male that was discovered behind the Deerfield Hills Community Center on January 11, 2020. The male has been identified as 19-year-old Senovio Medina of Colorado Springs. Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) Violent Crimes Section has been diligently investigating the circumstances of the death since it was reported on Saturday, January 11, 2020.  The investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old, Colorado Springs resident Ernesto Magallan-Archuleta.  Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Magallan-Archuleta for the charges of Manslaughter and Assault in the first degree. He was served with the arrest warrant on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center where he remains in custody.

The investigation of Mr. Medina’s death is included in the city’s total of six homicide investigations since the beginning of 2020.  The CSPD had investigated two homicides at this time last year.

On January 11, 2020, at approximately 09:30am, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) as well as medical personnel, responded to a report of a dead body behind the Deerfield Hills Community Center, located at 4290 Deerfield Hills Road.  Medical personnel located the body of an unidentified male who was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section has responded to the scene and is investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.
