On March 12, 2019, the United States Marshals Service located Edwin Figueroa in Mexico and coordinated his arrest with local officials. Figueroa was wanted for Murder in the First Degree in connection with the shooting death of Mr. Enriquez which occurred on January 12, 2019, in the 400 block of South Circle Drive. The United States Marshals Service escorted Figueroa back to the United States where he remained in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail. On March 28, 2019, Figueroa was extradited back to Colorado and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center where he remains in custody.
The arrest of Figueroa was coordinated and made possible by the United States Marshals Service Colorado Violent Offender Task Force, which is comprised of members of the Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Additional investigative assistance was provided to the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Homicide/Assault Unit by the El Paso, Texas, Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

On January 14, 2019, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the victim from the shooting that occurred on January 12, 2019, in the 400 block of South Circle Drive. The victim was identified as Ervey Enriquez, 17 years of age and a resident of Colorado Springs. Mr. Enriquez died as a result of a gunshot wound. This continues to be an active investigation.
Mr. Enriquez’s death is the first homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2019. The Colorado Springs Police Department investigated two homicides at this time last year.
Additionally, the Colorado Springs Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating Edwin Figueroa, 26 years of age. Figueroa has an active arrest warrant for Murder in the First Degree and should be considered armed and dangerous. Figueroa is being sought in this homicide investigation. On January 12, 2019, at approximately 1:18 AM, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 400 block of South Circle Drive on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male outside a business in a parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for this investigation. This death is being investigated as a homicide and continues to be an active investigation. Follow Twitter for updates, as appropriate.
