Updated: Death Investigation: 1400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway

Update

On August 30, 2018, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Homicide Unit, arrested 22 year old Micahi Stacy Hughes, a resident of Colorado Springs, for the August 29, 2018, homicide which occurred in the 1400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway. Micahi Hughs was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. This is the 21rst homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2018. The City of Colorado Springs had 21 homicides at this time last year. This continues to be an active investigation.

On August 29, 2018, at approximately 9:56 PM, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway, UCCS Family Development Center, on reported shots fired. Upon arrival, officers learned that a teenage male had been shot at this location and transported by friends to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for this investigation. This death is being investigated as suspicious and continues to be an active investigation. All subjects are accounted for. Follow Twitter for updates, as appropriate.

The UCCS campus remains safe. The Family Development Center will be closed Thursday, August 30, for detectives to process the crime scene. All other UCCS offices and buildings will operate on a normal schedule.
