Law Enforcement Teen Academy

2018 PIKES PEAK REGIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TEEN ACADEMY

The Colorado Springs Police Department, Fountain Police Department, and El Paso County Sheriff's Office announce that applications for the 2018 Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy are now being accepted.

The Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn about the operations of regional law enforcement agencies in El Paso County.  The Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are the host agencies for this week-long class. 

Courses will include jail operations, patrol procedures, SWAT, K-9, Explosives Unit, criminal investigation, search and rescue, and Metro Crime Lab.  Teens will tour secure areas within the Criminal Justice Center (County Jail), the Evidence Facility, and courtrooms at the Terry R. Harris Judicial Complex.

The academy will be June 4-8, 2018, from 9 AM to 4 PM.  The classes will take place at the Southeast & Armed Services YMCA located at 2190 Jet Wing Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80916.

Attendees will be responsible for bringing their own snacks, drinks and lunch. (Vending machines will be available on site if attendees want to bring their own change; CSPD/EPSO staff will not have change available.)

Interested applicants must be between the ages of 13-17 by May 11, 2018 to be eligible.  They also must be El Paso County residents and currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a school in El Paso County.

2018 1st ANNUAL TEEN ACADEMY 2.0

The Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are pleased to announce the 1st Annual Teen Academy 2.0.  The Teen Academy 2.0 will take place June 18, 2018 through June 22, 2018.

Teen Academy 2.0 is designed for teens, ages 13-18 who have already attended the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy and provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn more about the investigative aspect of policing. Teens will receive both class room and interactive classes on investigation techniques; interview and interrogation techniques, evidence collection and they will participate in a mock crime scene and court room testimony.  Young adults who are interested in attending the Teen Academy 2.0 but have yet to attend the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy they may apply to the 2018 Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy which will take place at June 4, 2018 through June 8, 2018 and the Teen Academy 2.0.

The Academy will run from June 18-22, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The classes will take place at the El Paso County Emergency Services Authority located at 3755 Mark Dabling Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.  Interested applicants must be between the ages of 14-17 by June 4, 2018 to be eligible.
