Hello Everyone —
As our community continues to feel the effects of COVID-19, I wanted to take a moment to reassure you that your police department will be here for you during these uncertain times. Our primary goal is, and always has been, to protect and serve this community. We will continue to remain steadfast in that mission. I also want to assure you that as a department, we are taking the steps necessary to keep our community and employees safe.
As a police department, we have protocols/procedures already in place and we have prepared for these types of events. While things may look a little different in the future, as we continue to adapt to an ever changing situation, I have the utmost confidence in our employees to continue serving all of you professionally and responsibly.
At this point in time, we are taking additional safety steps and are considering what calls for service we can conduct over the phone. One change you may see is officers responding to calls wearing face masks. This is not indicative that they have COVID-19 or have even been positively exposed. There are many reasons why an officer may be wearing a mask, to include the type of call they are responding to, or they might have a compromised immune system. Also, we have postponed all public events and closed our community rooms for public meetings. I want to stress that these are temporary. postponements and we will continually revaluate as the situation evolves. While it is difficult for us to not participate in community events or open our spaces for your use, we know it is the best decision for everyone and their health and we look forward to rescheduling everything in the future when it is safe to do so. As we move forward, we will continually assess and implement changes we need to make to in order to better safeguard our community.
We recognize that our procedures will most likely change as this health emergency continues to evolve however, we will keep our community updated as developments emerge. Remember, we are stronger together.
Thank you, and stay safe.
