The Youth Advisory Council to Law Enforcement (YACLE) provides Colorado Springs' young people with an active role in addressing youth issues. High school juniors and seniors are selected to serve as volunteer representatives of every neighborhood as well as schools in the city. It is the mission of young advocates to advise the chief, reach out to Colorado Springs teens, inform them of existing opportunities and listen to suggestions on what the city can do to improve its youth-oriented efforts. Youth Council members represent young people in their schools and districts. The Council is designed to bring topics of mutual interest to Colorado Springs youth and local law enforcement directly to the attention of Chief Niski and city leaders through open dialogue.
