Woodmen Corridor Lane Closures Jan 2nd-Jan 6th

Content

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Daily single lane closures in the eastbound and westbound directions of Woodmen Road from east of Academy Boulevard to the intersection of Lexington Drive will occur Monday, January 2 through Friday, January 6 for the safe performance of utility work, wall work and earthwork. Closures will occur during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

Additional ongoing lane closures are in place 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week at the following locations:

  • All northbound and southbound traffic on Union Boulevard, from Woodland Hills Drive to Shrider Road, has been shifted approximately 100 feet to the east to allow for utility work to take place in the existing intersection and for reconstruction of the existing southbound lanes of Union Boulevard. This shift will remain in place approximately through the end of March 2017.
  • All eastbound and westbound traffic on Woodmen Road has been shifted approximately 100 feet to the north to allow for utility work to take place in the existing intersection.  This shift extends 0.1 miles east and west of Union Blvd. The 45 MPH speed limit on Woodmen Road has been reduced to 40 MPH. The traffic shift and speed reduction will remain in place until spring 2017.
  • The two left turn lanes from northbound Union Boulevard onto Woodmen Road will be reduced to a single left turn lane.
  • A single lane of North Union Blvd. from Shrider Road to Woodland Hills Drive will be closed in both directions.
  • Dedicated right-turn lanes are closed at the intersection of Woodmen Road and Union Boulevard: eastbound and westbound from Woodmen to Union, and northbound from Union to Woodmen. Right turns are still allowed from the outside through lanes at these locations.

Normal work hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
