COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the westbound Woodmen Road right turn lane to northbound Union Boulevard will be closed for concrete work. Motorists will be detoured to Academy Boulevard and then to Briargate Boulevard to connect with Union Boulevard.
Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the intersection of Woodmen Road and Union Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in all directions for final concrete and paving work.
Please note: There are additional City construction projects, unrelated to the Woodmen Road Phase 2 Project, commencing adjacent to the Woodmen Road project on Lexington, Shrider, Fuller and Tecumseh roads. For any questions regarding construction on those roads, call the Colorado Springs Public Works Maintenance and Operations Division at (719) 385-5934.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Woodmen Road has been reduced to two through lanes in each direction between east of Academy Boulevard and Lexington Drive through the remainder of the project, estimated to end in May. One through lane, both eastbound and westbound, will be closed 24/7 for the safe performance of concrete work. The closed lane may either be the inside or outside through lane, depending on the work needed.
The lane closures will not change the flow of traffic through the Continuous Flow Intersection at Woodmen Road and Union Boulevard, but motorists should expect slight delays. Daytime single lane closures may continue on northbound or southbound Union Boulevard and Lexington Drive to complete final work. Motorists should follow construction signs.
The speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph through the work zone. Normal work hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
