2C paving has improved the condition of roads citywide, paving nearly 1,066 lane miles of roadway. But because of our freeze-thaw climate, potholes will continue to be a reality in our city. Here is how our Public Works Department is addressing the challenge.
The start of 2021 paving operations funded by ballot issue 2C was underway Thursday, June 3 with resurfacing on New Car Drive in northeast Colorado Springs. An estimated 182.65 lane miles citywide are scheduled to be repaved by 2C this year.
In 2015, the City’s Public Works department made a promise to the community to repave 1,000 lane miles in five years using voter-approved, dedicated sales tax funds. With a few more months to go in the fifth and final year, we’re pleased to report that mile 1,000 has been repaved.
The City’s public works department is using the latest industry technology to assess its public road infrastructure citywide.
