The stormwater team has completed another TABOR-funded neighborhood project at the intersection of Dale Street and Prospect Street. Crews removed an old and inefficient storm sewer system and replaced it with two curb inlets and new storm pipe. The new system decreases the chances of localized flooding in the area.
The total construction cost was approximately $125,000. The money came from ballot issue 2 TABOR funds. Voters passed ballot issue 2 in April 2017 allowing the City, without any increase in taxes, to retain and spend revenues which exceeded amounts otherwise authorized for retention of up to $6 million in 2016 and up to $6 million in 2017. Ballot Issue 2 funds were used in 2017 and 2018 to construct needed community stormwater projects while helping the City meet its stormwater program funding requirements per its intergovernmental agreement with Pueblo County.
