Gallop in the Garden: Every Thursday

Location: Garden of the Gods Park

  • Run/ Jog/ Walk in Garden of the Gods Park! 
  • There are phenomenal routes through Garden of the Gods Park and Rock Ledge Ranch that start and end at the Visitor & Nature Center. (Three routes are available every Thurs.)
  • Meet in the lower lobby of the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center at 1805 N. 30th St., Colorado Springs, CO.

Bighorn Sheep Festival: February 10

Where: Garden of the Gods Visitor Center

Details: Look for bighorns in their natural habitat through our high-power telescopes.  Bighorn presentations and door prizes.  Free cookies and cider.  Guided nature walks.  Children's activities and crafts.  Live Zoo animals. No-charge - all activities are FREE!  Don't forget your binoculars.

Details: November is National Model Railroading Month. Trains are a special part of the story of the West. We’ll read The Last Train by Gordon Titcomb, explore the history of trains in Colorado Springs, and create our own conductors hats.

Annual Audobon Christmas Bird Count: December 16

Location: Bear Creek Park

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Details: Come prepared for cold, snow, and icy trails. Afterwards, gather at Bear Creek Nature Center from 5 to 7 p.m. for a potluck dinner and species compilation.

Skatefest with US Figure Skating at Skate in the Park: December 16

Location: Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs

Time: 9 a.m. to noon

Details: Free and open to the public, SkateFest provides the opportunity for skaters of all ages to participate in free group lessons based on their experience levels. Free skating lessons will take place from 9 a.m. – noon, on-site registration begins at 8:15 a.m. (space is limited)

Pikes Peak AdAmAn Fireworks Show: midnight on December 31

Location: Summit of Pikes Peak (but you can watch the show from town!)

Time: midnight

Details: Every year the members of the AdAmAn club climb the icy slopes of Barr Trail on the east face of world famous Pikes Peak. Then, at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, AdAmAn members and their guests ignite a glorious fireworks display from the summit to usher in the New Year.
