Construction

Hunters Lane in the Old Broadmoor Area is a residential street within the City of Colorado Springs.

The existing corrugated metal pipes for Spring Run Creek were placed under the street in the 1960s and are deteriorating due to corrosion of the pipe inverts. In addition, the pipes no longer meet current drainage criteria. This project will install a two-cell concrete box culvert to improve the drainage crossing and safety in the area.

Residents should expect construction activity to be confined to a small work area on Hunters Lane. The street will be closed to traffic.

Because the project is on the west side of the Colorado Springs School, the project area will include a temporary, 6’ high construction fence and other measures in place to address safety for students.

The project previously included the replacement of an existing Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) gas line under both Hunters Lane and Old Broadmoor Rd. This utilities work was completed by CSU in fall 2022.

During the existing bridge demolition and construction of the new box culvert, the construction effort will utilize all available roadway width at the crossing on Hunters Lane.  Hunters Lane will remain closed to drivers and pedestrians for a 5-6 month construction period. Taking alternative routes (or commuting around the block) is suggested for both area residents and the Colorado Springs School during this time.
