About Councilmember Casey

Ken Casey is honored to continue his lifetime of public service as the District 2 Representative on the Colorado Springs City Council.

Ken enlisted in the Army after graduation from high school and later earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduation, Ken served as an Army officer for the next 22 years, rising to the rank of Colonel. He first came to Colorado Springs in 2004 when he was assigned to Fort Carson to command  a Combined Arms Battalion through it training and deployment to Kirkuk and Mosul, Iraq. Ken completed his military career at the Pentagon in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Upon transitioning from the Army, Ken returned to his adopted community of Colorado Springs and completed the Executive MBA program at the University of Denver. He then resumed his public service career as a Federal government employee with the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the contracting and asset management office in the Department’s headquarters.

Ken previously served on the Colorado Springs Planning Commission, most recently as the Chair. In this capacity, he reviewed land use applications and proposed changes to the Unified Development Code, encouraged public participation and comment, ensured all issues on an application were addressed, and provided recommendations to the City Council.

Ken currently serves as the President of a Homeowners’ Association of a master planned, 1900+ home community in District 2 where he focuses on practical solutions for the neighborhood. He works with his fellow Board members to continuously improve the financial position of the Association, reduce the backlog of deferred maintenance, and make the Association more responsive to homeowners.

Ken has lived in District 2 for a total of 17 years and has a broad understanding of the issues facing District 2 and the City at large.

Ken Casey was appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council in April 2026. He noted in his remarks after taking the oath of office, where he swore by the ever-living God that he was thankful to his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, for all the blessings on his life.
