About the tour

Colorado Springs residents are invited to Mayor Yemi and Colorado Springs City Council’s 2023 Listening Tour, a seven-stop tour in partnership with CONO: Building Neighborhood Networks to gather input on the City’s Strategic Plan, which will guide the direction of the City over the next four years. The tour will start in August and run for six weeks. The tour, which is part of Mayor Yemi’s First 100 Days Blueprint, will include a stop in each of the City’s six City Council districts, and will also include an online listening session.

The Listening Tour will feature collaborative discussions on important issues facing Colorado Springs, including public safety, housing, infrastructure, economic vitality, and other city services, and will be an opportunity for Mayor Yemi and Colorado Springs City Council to hear concerns and ideas from the community. Though each listening session is open to the public, residents are encouraged to register in advance to help ensure adequate space is provided, as well as to register for the listening session located in their City Council district.

The City's Strategic Plan Process

The Listening Tour is part of the first phase of the City’s strategic planning process. Phase 1 is a year-long development process dedicated to establishing the City’s strategic intention of being fully collaborative and community driven. With that intention, the City is focused not only on strategic planning but “strategic doing.” Community input is at the heart of each phase of the process, as well as the execution and implementation of the plan.

Outcomes expected from Phase 1

Seven listening sessions from the Listening Tour with Mayor Yemi and Colorado Springs City Council, which will yield a collection of feedback from residents across our community on what the City’s strategic goals and priorities should be.

The creation of a Strategic Plan Development Working Group, which is a mix of engaged community leaders, residents, and City staff. This group will provide a diversity of experiences and perspectives from around the community to help shape the mission, goals, and priorities and implement Mayor Yemi's vision of Colorado Springs as a culturally rich, economically prosperous, safe, and vibrant world-class American City.

Engaging an independent strategic plan consultant to aid the City in executing a robust Strategic Plan development process.
