Project Update
Work on this project will be temporarily paused starting Wednesday, February 18 due to equipment that was damaged during shipping. The contractor is working to replace the equipment and expects work to resume in mid-March. During this time, no active construction is anticipated in the project area.
Project Purpose & Benefits
The City of Colorado Springs, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), is upgrading two intersections along S. Nevada Avenue (Colorado State Highway 115) at Ramona Avenue and St. Elmo Avenue. The project will replace aging traffic signal infrastructure and provide critical safety upgrades for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The work also supports the South Nevada Urban Renewal Plan, which focuses on revitalizing this key corridor.
What is Being Improved?
- New traffic signals with updated timing
- ADA-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks
- Improved pedestrian crossings and signage
Why This Matters
These intersections have seen increased traffic and pedestrian activity in recent years. The improvements will:
