Overview
In 2024, the City installed pedestrian crossing signals at three locations where urban trails intersect arterial roadways to enhance accessibility and safety for pedestrians. These upgrades will make it easier and safer for individuals to cross the street, whether they are walking, biking or using a mobility device.
About

The Three Trails project included:
- The installation of a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Dublin at Dublin Park. The intersection will also receive sidewalk and pedestrian ramp improvements.
- The intersection of the Rock Island Trail with Murray Blvd.
- Shooks Run at Uintah. This section will also include trail construction.
During the project, we anticipate impacts to the urban trails and potential intermittent lane closures. Most lane closures will take place during evening hours to lessen the impact to the commuting community and a flagger will be present. Please use caution in these areas and follow all signage including any detours for the urban trails.
December 2024 update
- Concrete work at all sites is complete.
- The signals at Dublin, Shooks Run and El Paso should be operational by the end of 2024.
- The mast arm for the Rock Island Trail crossing Murray Avenue awaits coordination with Colorado Springs Utilities due to the co-located overhead power lines. The installation date is TBA.
