The City of Colorado Springs is home to an active and vibrant bicycling community. The City’s bike program is guided by the Bike Master Plan and funded in part by a self-imposed bike tax. Improvements are constantly being made to bicycle infrastructure and route connectivity, and the City supports bike education and encouragement programs and cycling events. With over 100 miles of on-street bicycle routes, nearly 120 miles of urban bike trails, and more than 60 miles of unpaved mountain bike trails, Colorado Springs is committed to ensuring that biking is a convenient, safe, and connected form of transportation and recreation.
Bike Month
June is Bike Month in Colorado and there are many great events and activities throughout the month recognizing the importance of bicycling in our community. Two City-sponsored events are:
Bike to Work Day
Bike to Work Day encourages bicycling for personal and community health, alternative transportation, recreation and sustainability. It is celebrated on the fourth Wednesday of June. In 2017 we introduces breakfast stations along our trail network designed to support how people actually ride their bikes to work while highlighting local businesses that support bicycling in our community. Now, instead of having one main location supported by the City, there are multiple locations supported by the community!
Mayor's Community Bike Ride
Join Mayor Suthers for a community bike ride and post ride celebration. See you next June!
