Crime Prevention Community Presentations
A significant aspect of Crime Prevention is reducing crime through community education. Each division crime prevention officer is able to provide training presentations on a variety of topics. These presentations can be given to community groups, businesses, and/or organizations looking to educate their members on crime prevention topics. The presentations currently available are:
- Active Shooter Training
- Learn how to use the principles of Run, Hide, Fight to survive an active shooter event.
- Verbal De-Escelation
- Learn the tools to de-escelate angry or upset individuals.
- Disaster preparedness
- Learn how to prepare your family for a natural disaster.
- Graffiti Abatement
- Lean how to prevent graffiti and the steps to have it removed.
- Internet Safety, ID Theft and Scam Prevention
- Learn how to protect yourself and your identity from theft and scams.
- Safety and Security for Houses of Worship
- Learn how to set up a security team and how to make your place of worship a hard target for criminal activity.
- Personal Safety
- Learn where you may be vulnerable to criminal activity and steps you can take to avoid victimization.
- How to be a good witness
- Learn how to be a good witness during criminal events and help law enforcement by providing needed information as soon as possible.
- Crime Prevention Through Environment Design (CPTED)
- Learn how to make your home or business a hard target to reduce the risk of criminal activity and victimization.
- Avoiding Elder Fraud/Scams
- Focused on teaching elderly adults to spot and protect themselves from scams.
All presentations are approximately one hour in length and are presented using the lecture method. No physical activity occurs during these presentations. All presentations require the use of Microsoft PowerPoint.
