Online Reporting Guidelines
*** IF THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY ***
Welcome to the Colorado Springs Police Department’s online case reporting system, where you can complete reports for certain types of crimes that occurred within the city limits of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
To report a crime online, it must have occurred within the City of Colorado Springs. The only exception to this is for victims of identity theft, who may complete an online report if they reside in Colorado Springs regardless of where the identity theft occurred. Incidents that did not occur within Colorado Springs must be reported to the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction where the incident occurred.
The Colorado Springs Police Department only accepts online reports for non-emergency incidents. IF THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY.
The following guidelines must be met to complete an online report:
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- A valid e-mail address must be provided so we can communicate case updates to you.
- The crime cannot involve domestic violence or a hate crime.
- In some cases, the crime victim cannot be 70 years of age or older, or have any intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities. If you meet these criteria, you will be notified if the crime you are reporting must called in to CSPD.
- Crimes involving a suspect whose full name or full vehicle license plate are known cannot be reported online.
Online reports may be completed for the following crimes:
- Identity theft (for example, someone is using your name, date of birth, or other personal information; someone is using your credit card or other financial accounts/information; someone has signed your name to documents)
- Break-ins to places that are not your home or business (for example, sheds and garages not attached to your home)
- Vehicle break-ins
- Storage unit break-ins
- Coin-operated machine and locker break-ins
- Online scams
- Theft of money or property
- Theft of vehicle parts or license plates
- Restaurant bill skips
- Shoplifting
If your incident does not meet the above criteria, you must call CSPD at #719-444-7000 to complete a report.
Online reports will be reviewed by a CSPD employee within three business days. If the report is accepted, you will receive an e-mail with your case report number. If the report is rejected, you will receive an e-mail explanation.
