The .50-mile project will improve the connection from Sand Creek Trail to Academy Boulevard. Along the south side of Hancock Expressway the existing sidewalk will be replaced with a wider, multi-use durable concrete surface. Pedestrian ramps will be improved through the crossings along with an improved connection at Boychuk Avenue to create a safer route to the adjacent shopping center.
This project will tie in with the Academy Boulevard Improvements Project. The vision for this corridor is guided by past studies that helped define the need for infrastructure improvements (and community revitalization). To provide for better multi-model and pedestrian access, a new multiuse path is being constructed on one side of Hancock Expressway. This will connect with a trail on South Academy Boulevard.
