Thank you for taking a moment to learn about the service agencies in Colorado Springs that are proactively addressing the diverse causes of poverty and homelessness in our community. From mental health care to substance abuse programs, housing opportunities to health care, you can make a difference by giving a hand up, not a handout.
HelpCOS provides a list of services available in the City of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. The guide is maintained by the City of Colorado Springs. For additional information within El Paso County, you can visit Helping hands and/or call 211 from your home phone or 955-0742 from your cell phone for resource referrals.
We are grateful for the collaboration between El Paso County Public Health, the City of Colorado Springs and our local homeless service providers from the beginning of the COVID-19 emergency. This video gives a glimpse of a meeting held on March 12th (prior to social distancing practices) to educate providers about the virus and how they can assist this vulnerable population.
With your donation to the HelpCOS initiative, you are supporting the Springs Rescue Mission's Work Engagement programs, including the newly launched HelpCOS My City program. The program sends volunteers experiencing homelessness to help conduct cleanups through the Mill St. neighborhood. In return for their efforts in these cleanups and other work experience, they receive incentives from the Mission, including job coaches, training, shelter stability, lunches and professional references to put them on the path to full employment.
