The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department announced today that free reservations are now open for the 2026 Trackchair Program, which helps people with mobility challenges explore local parks and open spaces using all-terrain Trackchairs.
Following a successful 2025 season, the program is expanding in 2026 to offer two guided hikes daily, Wednesday through Sunday, at locations throughout the season including Ute Valley Park, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Blodgett Open Space, and Bluestem Prairie Open Space. Guided hikes will be available from 8–11 a.m. and 12–3 p.m., weather permitting.
“We are thrilled to bring the Trackchair Program back for another season and continue creating opportunities for everyone to experience the beauty of Colorado Springs’ parks and open spaces,” said Skyler Rorabaugh, PRCS Director. “The response from participants and families last year showed just how meaningful access to the outdoors can be.”
The Trackchairs are battery-powered, all-terrain mobility chairs designed with a low center of gravity and extended battery life, allowing users to comfortably navigate trails and uneven terrain. Each hike is guided by PRCS staff who provide trail information throughout the experience.
The program is a collaborative effort between the Recreation Services and Regional Parks, Trails and Open Space Divisions, working together to reduce barriers and create more inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities across the city. The Trackchairs were made possible through funding from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Equity Grant, the Colorado Springs Office of Accessibility and a private donation from Max Delgado.
Reservations are free and available now. For more information about the program and to reserve a Trackchair experience, visit ColoradoSprings.gov/Trackchair.
