An autopsy was conducted, and in January 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office ruled the child’s manner of death to be a homicide.
In the following months, detectives conducted an exhaustive investigation, including the preparation of several search warrants and reviewing medical records.
On January 4, 2024, Crimes Against Children Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for the child’s mother, identified as Amber Comstock, a 32-year-old resident of Colorado Springs. Ms. Comstock was arrested for Child Abuse – Criminal Negligence Resulting in Death, a Class 3 Felony.
On January 5, 2024, Crimes Against Children Detectives located Ms. Comstock and took her into custody without incident. A booking photo of Ms. Comstock is located below.
