On January 8, 2023, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a shooting in the 300 Block of East Brookside Street. When officers arrived, they found a deceased male in an apartment with apparent gunshot wounds. The CSPD Homicide unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The El Paso County Coroner’s Officer later identified the deceased male as 31-year-old Darrian Adame.
On January 9, 2024, the CSPD Homicide unit developed probable cause to seek and obtain an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Damari Sims-Herrick for first-degree murder.
On Thursday, February 1, 2024, the CSPD Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, along with the Lakewood Police Department, arrested Mr. Sims-Herrick for the warrant related to the death of Darrian Adame. A booking photo of Mr. Sims-Herrick is provided below.

On January 8th, 2023, officers were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 300 Block of E. Brookside Street. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male in an apartment with apparent gunshot wounds. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were called and responded to the scene. There is no active threat to the community regarding this incident. The investigation is ongoing. All further communication related to this incident will come from the Public Information Office.
